<p>Foster Elementary School also received a donation of five keyboards to replace their cardboard keyboards.  Ms. Grim reported, the day after receiving the delivery, that the students were eagerly taking turns at their chance with the new keyboards.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Eighteen high schools from Bexar and surrounding counties have been confirmed for participation in the 2011 U.S. Army High School Drum Line and Mariachi Contest.  Ten schools have returned from last year&#8217;s event and eight new schools join the 2011 competition.  Will there be a new first place winner in the 2011 contest?  Both Steele High School (Drum Line Contest) and Fox Tech (Mariachi) are back to defend their titles.  Will they hold onto 1st Place or will one of the newcomers claim the victory spot?  Judge&#8217;s scores and audience text votes will determine the final rankings.</p>

<p>You will be receiving the official contest information packet today 10/22 or Monday 10/25.  The packet includes important instructions, deadlines and release forms for the 2011 U.S. Army High School Drum Line &amp; Mariachi Contest. </p>
<p>It is important that every student who will be performing and accompanying you to Sunset Station accurately completes a U.S. Army Release Form and a Music In The Schools media release forms.  Any student who is 17 years of age or younger, must have a partent/guardian sign the forms &#8211; no exceptions.  If your students performed in the contest last year, they must still complete all release forms for this year&#8217;s competition.</p>
<p>If you have any questions about any of the information contained in the packet please &#8220;leave a reply&#8221; on this blog.  We will receive it and respond. </p>

<p>Music In The Schools non-profit organization is here to help.  We&#8217;ll be collecting new and used instruments in our musical instrument drive and delivering them to area schools.  Instrument drop-off dates, November 20th (Universal Toyota) and December 4th (Alamo Music Center). </p>
