January 2010 – U.S. Army Drum Line and Mariachi Contest

Music In The Schools partners with the U.S. Army All-American Bowl to produce a citywide high school music extravaganza on January 9, 2010. Twelve high schools from the greater San Antonio area compete before a live audience. A panel of distinguished judges score each performance and the audience casts their favorite by text voting. Music In The Schools awards $12,000 in educational scholarships to competing schools.

January 2010 – Great Day S.A. Appearance

Music In The Schools appears on Kens Channel 5, Great Day SA to promote the U.S. Army Drum Line and Mariachi Contest. Feature performance by competing high school, Southside Drum Line.

October 2009 – Music In The Schools signs with the U.S. Army All-American Bowl

Music In The Schools finalizes contract with the U.S. Army All-American Bowl to produce the first annual U. S. Army Drum Line and Mariachi Contest.

July 2009 – Silent Auction and Raffle Special Event Adam Wilson custom home builder showcases parade of homes and hosts a silent auction and raffle to benefit Music In The Schools. Special entertainment provided by the John Jay High School Orchestra Quartet.

June 2009 – Johnson High School Records in The Studio with Music In The Schools

Johnson High School Orchestra, winner of the Music In The Schools citywide “Search for the Top High School Orchestra”, records two competition pieces in a one of Texas’ premier recording studio. In an all-day session, students participate in the recording process and learn how to work together in a professional environment with music engineers and producers.

January 2009 – Music In The Schools “Winner’s Concert” at the Lila Cockrell Theater

Finalist from the Music In The Schools “Search for the Top High School Orchestra” arrive at the Lila Cockrell Theater for rehearsal and preparations for the evening’s concert. In a stunning concert before a live audience, Johnson High School is award top honors and a $5,000 scholarship for their music program.

January 2009 – “Search for the Top High School Orchestra” receives wide-spread publicity

December 2008 – Music In The Schools is recognized as a 501(c)(3) public charity by the U.S. Internal Revenue Service

August 2008 – Music In The Schools Organization Begins

Local San Antonio musician, Lynette Brehm begins Music In the Schools with the goal of supporting the growth and development of music programs in the state of Texas. Plans for the first community event begin.
